Session Requirements

Some of the options below requires advance planning and preparation. Please read the options carefully and come prepared if the option requires.

Option A

Visualize It!

Using The Reading Strategies Book Study Guide, follow the directions on pages 10-11 Visualize It..

This activity may be done on your own, or you may work with one or more colleagues.

Post your visual along with a description (age level, any defining features such as EL or ACP, etc.) of the group with whom you will use it in the OPS School Libraries notebook.

This may align with your school SIP goals, and it aligns with the OPS Strategic Plan (supporting literacy).

Option B

Mark Up A Demo Text

This will take a little pre-planning! Choose a text that you will share with your students and follow the directions on page 14 of the The Reading Strategies Book Study Guide for text mark up. Share your mark up with one or more colleagues and get feedback on your mark ups.

Post your markups in the OPS School Libraries Notebook along with a short reflection on the sharing process.

This may align with your school SIP goals, and it aligns with the OPS Strategic Plan (supporting literacy).

Option 1

Planning Prompts

Using The Reading Strategies Book Study Guide, follow the directions on pages 16-17, Planning Prompts. Extend the study by conferring with 1 or more colleagues to get feedback on your prompts. Then add or refine the prompts you will use.

In the OPS School Libraries notebook, record the strategy, your prompts and a short reflection of the effectiveness of this activity.

This may align with your school SIP goals, and it aligns with the OPS Strategic Plan (supporting literacy).
