Skinner Magnet Center and Rotary Club of Omaha West have enjoyed a unique Adopt-A-School relationship for many years.
Rotary Readers work with 1st and 2nd grade students. Readers spend about 2 hours a month working on a one-on-one basis with each child. Readers are usually assigned 2 students. Students are nominated by their teachers.
The Rotary Reader goals include:
1. To provide students with extended read aloud experiences and introduce them to the idea of reading for fun
2. To establish relationships between reader and student that will inspire students to become confident readers.
3. To provide modeling of reading with inflection and fluency.
"Inspiring children to become life long readers
that are confident, imaginative, and creative."
