Disc Qs 25-27

Topics such as injustice, hatred, and courage are addressed in Refugee. Research current event articles from the newspaper that address one of the topics. In an essay and/or visual display, compare and contrast the current event to the book!

Create a playlist of songs for each significant scene in a book
Draw a graphic novel based on  a significant scene from a book, or a condensed version of the book. Create a sixty second video commercial for one of his/her/their
books.
Choose one of the characters from the book and create a collage that
best visually represents that character.

Write a letter to a the author about how their book influenced or affected you.

Rewrite a pivotal scene in a book from another character’s point-of-view. Discuss how this changes the scene. Also discuss why you chose this scene to rewrite and this character’s point-
of-view.

Create a book trailer for one of the SE-YA author’s books. Be sure to include a synopsis of the
book (with no spoilers!) and that the trailer is eye-catching so someone will want to read the book.
Use the proper images, music, and scene pacing to the tone of the book.
Draw a graphic novel based on any of the SE-YA authors’ books. It can either be a significant scene from a book, or a condensed version of the book. It can be in any style of drawing you choose. Write a blurb explaining why you chose the scene that you did and why you chose the drawing style you did. Write it like a blurb explaining a piece of art in a gallery.

* From one of the books, make a list of cultural divides, stereotypes or assumptions which play a
significant role in the story. Think and write more about that topic: What assumptions are fueling
these divides? What tentative steps are taken? What sort of divides do you see in your own
community? What role do assumptions play in fueling your community’s divides? What potential
bridges could be built?
