• Think alouds

• Reciprocal teaching

• Note-making graphic organizers (Combination, Cornell, or Cloze)

• Preview of text structure and features

• QAR (talking to the text)

 

Teachers will be supported in implementing gradual release, literacy strategies, and procedures and routines

Five key strategies necessary for embedded, formative assessments to work well:

• Sharing the learning goal with students

• Looking for evidence of learning through on-the-spot assessments

• Providing feedback to students that moves learning forward

• Activating students as learning resources for one another (shared and/or guided)

• Activating students as owners of their own learning (student goal setting)
